From the Special Education Director:
The Individualized Education Program (IEP) is the cornerstone of a quality education for each child with a disability at Fremont County School District #14-Wyoming Indian Schools.
Every student at Wyoming Indian Schools, who receives special education and related services, has an Individualized Education Program (IEP). Each student’s IEP is truly an individualized document. The IEP creates an opportunity for teachers, parents, school administrators, related services personnel, and student (when age appropriate) to work together to enhance the educational success of each child with a disability.
The IEP process is one of the most critical elements to ensure effective teaching, valuable learning, and positive outcomes for all children with disabilities at Wyoming Indian Schools. To create an effective IEP, parents, teachers, related services providers, school administrators, and often the student come together to look closely at the student's unique strengths and needs. These individuals share their knowledge, experience, and commitment to design an educational program that will enable the student to participate and progress in the general curriculum, to the maximum extent possible. The IEP guides the delivery of special education supports and services for the student with a disability. Without a doubt, writing and implementing an effective IEP requires teamwork!
It is important that you understand your rights and obligations concerning the education of students with an Individualized Education Program (IEP). You can find the Notice of Procedural Safeguards and a useful document from the Parent Information Center (PIC) entitled, Keys to confident and effective parent participation in the special education process, on the left margin of this webpage.
